Pennsylvania State Tax Payment Plan
The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue has created a short form, Payments on Account When the Payments Are Less than Payments in Full that gives a brief explanation of payment options, as well as explains how penalties and interest are accrued.
While the department does offer payment plans (or deferred payment plans as the state often refers to it), one will not be considered until you have been billed, assessed for the taxes, and the period for assessment appeals had passed.
To set up a deferred payment plan (DPP), you have two options.
• Call the Collections Unit at 717-783-3000.
• Visit your local Revenue district office. A list of offices can be found here.
Once you DPP has been set up, payments can be made by check or money order (made payable to Pennsylvania Department of Revenue). You should include the tax year, the term “PA-40) and your social security number in the memo section. Payments can be mailed to:
