Massachusetts State Tax Payment Plan
Massachusetts State Tax Payment Plan
If you have received a bill from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue indicating you owe a tax debt, you do have the option of applying for a payment agreement. Penalties and interest will continue to accrue until the balance has been completely paid off. Payments can only be made in monthly installments.
In order to apply, you will need to do the following, provided the total amount you owe is $5,000 or less:
- Make certain you have a copy of the bill in front of you. Your 12 digit bill number is located in the upper right corner of your bill.
- Visit the Massachusetts Department of Revenue’s Payment Agreement System for Individuals. To complete your request, use the blue box on the right side of the screen. This is also where you will go to make payments
If your tax liability is $5,000 or more, you must contact a Massachusetts Department of Revenue customer service representative at 617-887-6367 or 1-800-392-6089 to request a payment plan. You can also use this number if your wages have been levied.
The state does not provide a timetable as far as when you can expect to receive response to your request. If you have any questions, please call 617-887-6367 for additional assistance.
