Montana State Tax Payment Plan

The Montana Department of Revenue has made it easy for you to apply for a payment plan if you owe back taxes. Visit their Payment Plan Request website. You will be walked step by step through the process of submitting a request.

Payment plans may be automatically approved if you meet the following criteria:

You will be able to pay off your entire debt in 12 payments or less.
Your payment amount will be at least $50 a month.
You will make your first payment within 30 days of submitting your request.
You agree to electronic payments

If you are unable to meet the following, your request must be manually approved, though the state does not provide a timeframe regarding when a decision will be made.
